The McKune Cemetery Front Section

McKune’s Cemetery is a small cemetery located approximately one mile west of Susquehanna, PA on Route 171. It is an older cemetery with burials dating back to the 1820’s. Because this cemetery is located next to the “Aaronic Priesthood” monument – a memorial honoring Joseph Smith, the Mormon Prophet – it is of significant importance to the Mormons as the infant son of Joseph and Emma (Hale) Smith is buried here along with Emma (Hale) Smith’s parents, Isaac and Elizabeth Hale. This quaint cemetery hosts several hand hewn stone that are still in pristine condition to this day. There are two “drive throughs” that divide this cemetery into 3 parts – a front section that borders the Aaronic Priesthood monument, a middle section and a back section that borders a small wooded area. This cemetery is well maintained and easily accessible with parking either at the Aaronic Priesthood monument or on one of the drive throughs.

This Front Section of the McKune’s Cemetery borders the Aaronic Priesthood monument with a split rail fence.
